46 x 2.4mm metal beads ( MTEA24 )
2 x Calottes ( CASP )
2 x 5mm jump rings ( JR5SP )
1 x Extension Chain & Trigger Clasp ( EXCH5SP-2 )
1m of S-Lon ( SLC-20 )
A sharp pair of scissors
A beading mat - not essential, but very handy! ( BMT-2 )
1. Cut a 70m length of S-Lon and tie three overhand knots on top of each other 20mm from the end ( photo 1 )
2. Thread a calotte onto the S-Lon making sure to thread from the inside fold of the calotte ( photo 2 )
3. Thread 1 metal bead, 1 crystal bead, 1 metal bead, 1 sunflower bead onto your S-Lon (photo 3 )
4. Continue threading this sequence ( photo 4 ) until your necklace is your desired length. Finish with a metal bead
5. Thread a calotte onto your S-Lon, from the outside fold of the calotte. Tie three overhand knots, one on top of another. You need to position the knots so they sit snuggly against the calotte and the rest of the beads, ideally so no S-Lon is visible. TIP When you start to tie your first overhand knot, before you pull it tight, use a needle to guide it to the right position ( photo 5a and 5b )
6. Add a dab of glue to the knots, to make sure they are super safe. Leave to one side until they are dry
7. Trim the lose ends of S-Lon about 2mm from the knot, using chain nosed pliers close the callotes ( photo 6 )
8. Using chain nosed pliers, open up one jump ring, use this to link the the trigger clasp to the loop on the calotte. Repeat at the other end of your necklace with the extension chain ( photo 7 )
You're finished! Enjoy wearing your sunny necklace!
