Free Instructions: Spring Aquamarine Necklace

Make your own dreamy handmade Spring Aquamarine necklace featuring gorgeous Aquamarine chips. Aquamarine is the Birthstone of March, so this would make an ideal present for a March birthday! Nothing is more personal than handmade jewellery, especially with a semi precious element The wonderful sea blues of the Aquamarine semi precious chips pair perfectly with the classic white pearlescent seed beads to create a stylish and elegant necklace. Once you get making, why not experiment with colour! Swap out white pearlescent seed beads for another seed bead colour, and experiment with some different semi precious chip beads! Or try silver plated findings instead of gold plated findings? So many options to choose from! Fancy making a matching bracelet and earrings. Check out our Spring Aquamarine bracelet, and Spring Aquamarine earrings free project instructions as well!

Materials Needed:: 5g white pearlescent seed beads ( P802), Aquamarine Chips ( AQUA), 5 x head pins (HPGP), 5 x 2.4mm metal spacer beads (MTEA24) 1 x 8mm jump ring (JR8GP), belcher chain (CHF18GP).

Tools Needed: Two pairs of chain nosed pliers ( BEECN), side cutters (BEESC), one pair of round nosed pliers (BEERN)

Instructions

  1. Using two pairs of chain nosed pliers, open up one 8mm jump ring, thread 6 seed beads onto it. (photo 1) Please note, the seed beads are a snug fit! Some of the holes were a little small. But the majority are fine :)

  3. Using chain nosed pliers fold over the top section of the head pin (photo 3a) use round nosed pliers to turn a neat loop to finish one Aquamarine dangle (photo 3b). Repeat this step 4 times so you have 5 Aquamarine links. TIP: Keep your head pin off cuts, you will need one to make a jump ring for your necklace. They are handy to keep for future projects to make into more jump rings, or eyepins!

  4. Take one Aquamarine dangle, use chain nosed pliers to open up the loop, link it to the pearly jump ring, and close the loop. Continue adding the other 4 Aqua dangles, making sure they are all positioned in between the same gap between seed beads. Make sure the links all open on the same side, this will look the neatest (photo 4)

  5. Make a jump ring out of a head pin off cut (see ‘how to make a jump ring’ at the end of these instructions). Using chain nosed pliers open your jump ring, loop it to your pearly jump ring- making sure that it’s in the middle of your 6 seed beads, and loop it to your belcher chain. Close your jump ring (photo 5)

How to make a jump ring out of a head pin off cut:

  1. Take your round nosed piers, place them at the very end of your metal off cut. The length of the metal pointing towards you. The further away from the tip of the round nosed plier the metal is positioned, the larger your jump ring will be (photo 6a & 6b). We positioned ours about 5mm away from the tip of the pliers.
  2. Using chain nosed pliers, take the end of your metal off cut, wrap it up and over the top of your round nosed pliers (photo 7)

  3. Rotate your round nosed pliers so the metal end is now pointing towards you (photo 8)
  4. Using chain nosed pliers, take the end of your metal off cut and wrap it up and over the top of your round nosed pliers to create a full circle (photo 9)
  5. Remove the metal piece from the pliers and using cutters, cut where the metal over laps and creates a circle (photo 10). Use two pairs of chain nosed pliers to line up the two jump ring ends so they meet
