Free Instructions: Rainbow Fringe Heart Necklace

Materials Needed

Size 8/0 rainbow seed beads:

Size 8/0 Silver Lined Red Seed Beads ( S811 )

Size 8/0 Silver Lined Orange Seed Beads ( S821 )

Size 8/0 Silver Lined Yellow Seed Beads ( S815 )

Size 8/0 Silver Lined Green Seed Beads ( S828 )

Size 8/0 Silver Lined Blue Seed Beads ( S818 )

Size 8/0 Silver Lined Purple Seed Beads ( S824 )

Size 8/0 Silver Lined Pink Seed Beads ( S822 )

Size 8/0 Opaque White Seed Beads ( O802 )

Size 8/0 Opaque Black Seed Beads ( O801 )

Size 8/0 Silver Lined Silver Seed Beads ( S831 )

9 x head pins ( HPSP )

1 x eye pin ( EPSP )

1 x Belcher Chain ( CHF18SP )

Tools Required

One pair of side cutters (BEESC)

Two pairs of chain nosed pliers (BEECN)

Round Nosed Pliers (BEERN)

Bead Mat - optional - but very useful!!!! (BMT)

Instructions

1. Take 1 head pin, thread 5 seed beads, using Image 1 as your reference for seed beads colours, working from head pin 1. Put your headpin to one side

2. Continue to thread your beads onto the remaining 8 head pins, so they match the bead sequence in image 1. Keep them neatly in the correct order, continue to keep them in this order throughout the next steps. Line the head pins so the top bead of each headpin is in line ( image 2)

3. Using your side cutters and trim your head pins 10mm along from the end seed bead (image 3) TIP - for the design to have maximum effect, this design requires you to be as accurate as possible, so the bead/ colours line up neatly

5. Take your end head pin, using chain nosed pliers, fold your headpin over to a 90 degree angle, the fold as close to the top bead as possible (photo 4)

6. Using round nosed pliers turn a neat loop (photo 5)

7. Repeat steps 5-6 so all your head pins have loops (photo 6) Make sure your loop are as as consistent in size as possible

8. Take your eye pin, thread 1 silver lined silver seed bead onto it, thread the end beaded headpin, thread 1 silver lined silver seed bead, thread the next beaded headpin. Continue threading 1 bead, and the next beaded headpin - until all 11 headpins have been used. End with 1 bead (photo 7). TIP - make sure the loops are all 'facing the same way' i.e. the open side of the top of the loops all sit all on the same side.

9. Using side cutters, trim the eye pin 10mm from the end 1D, repeat steps 5 & 6 to turn a neat loop, to match the size of the loop at the other end of your eye pin (photo 8) Put your beaded piece to one side.

10. Take your chain, find the middle point, using side cutter, cut the middle link to separate the chain into two pieces

11. Using chain nosed pliers, open the end loop on your eye pin, and loop it onto the end link of the chain, close the loop of the eye pin. Repeat for the other end of eye pin, and the other end link of the chain (photo 9)
