Materials Used:

Carolina Blue S-Lon ( SLC47 )

Size 8/0 Silver lined orange seed beads ( S821 )

Orange S-Lon ( SLC21 )

10mm wooden bead ( WDCX21 )

Tools Required

A Macrame board ( MBDS )

A sharp pair of scissors ( SCIMX )

Instructions

 1. Cut an 80cm length of your main colour cord, fold in half and tie an overhand knot near the fold. Ensure that the resulting loop will pass over the wooden bead. (Picture 1a 1b)

 2. Take your macrame board and secure the loop end at one end and the free ends at the opposite end. These are your lazy threads. (Picture 2)

3. Cut a 2m length of your main colour cord and fold in half. Pass the right side under your lazy threads until the centre is under the lazy threads. Position against the knot. (Picture 3)

4. Pass the right hand thread over your lazy threads. Take the left hand thread (your working thread) over the right hand thread and under the lazy threads. Pass up through the loop created. Keep hold of your working thread, this will make it easier to know which step you are on. (Picture 4)

5. Pull to tighten the knot. (Picture 5)

6. Pass the left hand thread over the lazy threads. Take the right hand thread (your working thread) over the left hand thread, under the lazy threads and up through the loop created by the left hand thread. This is a complete square knot. (Picture 6a & 6b)

7. Cut a 1.5m length of your contrasting colour, fold in half and pass under your lazy threads to the centre of the thread. Position these threads either side of the knot over the main colour threads. (Picture 7)

8.  Tie a full square knot under the contrast thread. (Picture 8)

9. Take the right hand contrast thread across the knots just made to rest on the left. (Picture 9)

10.  Cross with the left hand contrast thread (Picture 10)

 11. Tie a full square knot and pull the contrast threads to sit as a neat cross. (Picture 11)

12.  Pass both contrast threads above out of the way. (Picture 12)

13.  Repeat steps 8 to 12 until the knotwork is the desired length allowing around 2cm for the clasp. (Picture 13)

14. Release your macrame from the board and tie an overhand knot with all the threads. (Picture 14)

15. Thread your threads through the wooden bead, take your time as this can be a little fiddly. Then tie another overhand knot and snug it up next to the bead. (Picture 15)

16.  Trim your tassel to the desired length and thread a seed bead onto each length securing with an overhand knot. (Picture 16)

You're finished!
