Free Instructions: Crystal Snowflake

A cute mini crystal snowflake! Follow our free step by step instructions and learn how to make your own crystal snowflake featuring crystal beads and seed beads, perfect to wear as a pendant, make two snowflakes for earrings, add a loop to make it into a tree decoration, or leave it as it is for a little keepsake charm. Materials we used:

6 x 5mm Crystal AB bicone Preciosa beads ( CPB53020001-24 )

6 x 3mm Crystal AB bicone Preciosa beads ( CPB33020001-20 )

5g Size 11.0 Silver Silver Lined Preciosa seed beads ( S1131 )

White beading thread ( any of our beading thread is suitable )

Tools we used 

Size 13 beading needle ( ND13 )

A sharp air of scissors ( SCIMX )

A beading mat ( BMT2 )

Instructions

Legend:

A= seed beads B = 5mm crystal beads C = 3mm crystal beads

TIP - don't pull your tension too tight, you need to have enough space to weave in 3mm crystal beads half way through, once you reach the end, that's the time to weave back around your thread paths and tighten!

1. Thread a comfortable length of stretched beading thread on to a beading needle ( we used approx 60cm )

2. Pick up 1A, 1B, 1A, 1B, 1A, 1B, 1A, 1B, 1A, 1B, 1A, 1B ( photo 1 ) leave a 15cm tail

3. Loop around and pass through the first A you picked up - to create a circle, pass through all the beads to strengthen ( photo 2 )

4. Pick up 6A, loop around and pass through the third A you just picked up to make a little circle of 4 beads ( photo 3a, 3b, 3c )

5. Pick up 2A, miss out the next B, pass through the next A ( photo 4 )

6. Repeat steps 4 & 5 five more times ( photo 5 )

7. Pass through the next 2A, miss out the next 1A, pass through the next 2A. Make sure your thread sits underneath the missed out 1A, so the little bead circle pop up to a point ( photo 6 )

8. Pick up 1C, miss out 1A, pass through the next 2A, miss out the next 1A ( like in the previous step ) ( photo 7 )

9. Repeat the previous step five more times ( photo 8 )

10. Pass through any/ all thread paths that you feel may need tightening / strengthening, including the little pointy beady circles ( photo 9 )

11. Weave in to secure your threads and trim ( photo 10 )

What's next?

Pop a jump ring through one of the little beaded points, add a chain to make into a necklace...

make another snowflake, add jump rings and ear wires to make into a cute pair of earrings...

Add a beaded loop to make in to a little sparkly Christmas tree decoration!
