Free Instructions: Captured Light Crystal Earrings

Follow our free step by step instructions and learn a simple netting bead weaving technique using size 11/0 seed beads to create a beaded bezel to showcase the beauty of a crystal rivoli. Materials we used:

5g Size 11/0 Clear rainbow seed beads ( R1105 )

2 x Crystal Rivoli ( CPR143020001 )

White beading thread

2 x ear wires ( LBWSP )

Tool Required

A size 13 beading needle ( ND13 )

Chain nosed pliers

A sharp pair of scissors

A beading mat ( BMT-2 )

Instructions

1. Thread your needle with a metre of stretched beading thread. Pick up 36 11/0’s and move to the centre of your thread. Pass around and through 4 beads to form a ring. (Photo 1a & 1b)

2. Pick up 5 11/0’s, skip 5 and pass through the next 11/0. (Photo 2)

3. Repeat step 2, 5 times, then pass up 3 beads from the beginning of step 2. (Photo 3)

4. Pick up 3 11/0’s, skip 5 and pass through the next 11/0. (Photo 4)

5. Repeat step 4, 5 times (Photo 5)

6. Weave in and secure this thread (Photo 6)

7. Thread your needle onto the tail of your thread. Pick up 3 11/0’s, skip 5 and pass through the next 11/0 (Photo 7)

8. Repeat step 7 twice more, then insert the Rivoli into your bezel before completing the rest of the ring (Photo 8a). Make sure to keep a tight tension so the beadwork encases the Rivoli. Weave around this inner ring again pulling nice and tight (photo 8b)

9. Weave through to exit a point bead around the edge. Pick up 7 11/0’s and pass through the next point bead. (Picture 9)

10. Weave back down to the inner ring of 3’s and pass around to strengthen then pass back up to go around the loop again. Weave in and secure your thread. (Picture 10)
